A hospital bed at home is usually the first thing a family is told to arrange when someone is going to be in bed for weeks rather than days. It matters more than people expect: the height adjusts so a nurse can work without hurting their back, the backrest raises for feeding and breathing, and side rails stop a confused or weak patient from falling. Varolyn rents beds by the month across Bangalore, delivers and installs them, and takes them away when they are no longer needed, alongside the rest of our medical equipment on rent.

Which bed do you actually need?

If you are unsure, tell our coordinator the patient's weight, whether they can sit up unaided, and who will be moving them. That is usually enough to point at the right bed.

What comes with the bed

Measure the doorway and the lift before ordering. Beds come apart for delivery, but a narrow staircase or a tight landing is worth mentioning when you book.

What affects the price

Rental is charged monthly. The figure depends on a few honest variables rather than a single sticker price:

Ask for the full figure including delivery, deposit and any mattress before you commit. We will give it to you on the call rather than after installation.

Renting or buying

Renting almost always makes sense for a recovery measured in weeks or a few months — a post-surgical patient, someone recovering from a fracture, or a short palliative period. Buying starts to make sense only for a permanent, long-term situation where the bed will be in use for years, and even then it leaves you owning something bulky that is hard to resell.

Our medical equipment cost guide goes through the rent-versus-buy maths for beds and other equipment in more detail.

Beds and nursing together

Most families who need a bed also need somebody to help use it. A bed makes turning and positioning possible; a trained nurse or attendant makes it happen on a schedule that actually prevents pressure sores, as set out in our guide to bedridden patient care at home.

Varolyn can arrange home nursing alongside the equipment, or a patient attendant for non-clinical daily support. Tell the coordinator what the day looks like and they will suggest the combination rather than selling you both.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a hospital bed cost to rent in Bangalore?

Rental is monthly and depends on the bed type, the mattress and the rental period. A manual bed is the most economical, a fully electric bed the most expensive, and an air or alternating-pressure mattress adds to the figure. A refundable deposit is normally taken. Call +91 88612 82762 and we will give you the complete figure — bed, mattress, delivery and deposit — before you book.

Do you deliver and install the bed?

Yes. The bed is delivered, assembled and installed in the room where it will be used, with side rails fitted and checked. At the end of the rental we dismantle and collect it. Mention any narrow staircase, tight landing or small lift when you book so the team arrives prepared.

What is the difference between a manual, semi-electric and fully electric bed?

A manual bed is adjusted with crank handles and is the most economical. A semi-electric bed motorises the backrest and knee section with a handset while the height stays manual, and suits most long home recoveries. A fully electric bed motorises height as well, so the patient can adjust it themselves — useful where the patient has some independence or a single carer manages alone.

How long can I rent a hospital bed for?

Rental is arranged by the month and can be extended for as long as it is needed. Longer rentals usually attract a better monthly rate. If the situation changes and the bed is no longer required, we arrange collection.

Do I need a doctor's prescription to rent a hospital bed?

A hospital bed itself does not require a prescription. However the bed type and the mattress should suit the patient's condition, so we ask about mobility, weight and how long the patient is expected to be in bed. Where a pressure-relieving mattress is being considered, we would suggest confirming the choice with the treating doctor.

Important: this page is general information about a service, not medical advice. Care is arranged to the treating doctor’s plan. Varolyn does not provide emergency services — in an emergency call 108 or go to the nearest hospital.
